Presently and pleasantly pursuing profits in Pleasanton as per usual. Well not quite as usual because I don’t normally source in Pleasanton but I thought I would go to an unfamiliar territory to see the wares I could discover.
Territory Hopping
Our first stop in Pleasanton today will be at one of my favorite stores, Homegoods! Homegoods usually has some decent scores and browsing new and unfamiliar purveyors is always fun. No one bothered to tell me this year that Halloween will start in July this year… but I’m ok with it because Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.
I also am a sucker for a good PSL (pumpkin spice latte.Don’t judge.) I found a few things but I stumbled across this children’s Halloween toy that I remember sourcing last year and it sold really well. I was surprised to see that it is still selling, so I bought 4 of them hoping I will make about $68 profit from them.
Now I know that I just went to a few Big Lots a couple of days ago but hey, new town, new Big Lots. So I had to stop and check them out. I came across a pet item that has a low rank and not too many people are selling it. Hopefully I will have some luck with that.
I saw that there was a Burlington in town so I thought I should stop there since it's not that common of a store. My hunt here turned into wild-goose-chase. Most of the products were difficult to scan because Burlington plasters their giant barcode stickers over the original barcode, making scanning very frustrating. All-in-all I only walked out with 2 mugs really just because I didn’t want to leave empty-handed.
The final 2 stores that I decided to visit on the day are Marshall’s and Trader Joe’s. Like the haul at Burlington, our exploration through Marshall’s as well as Trader Joe’s was a bit of a let down. I only found 1 product at Marshall’s that I sourced last year and sold well and to my surprise, is still selling well. We got completely skunked at TJ’s. Sad Face.
Conclusion
After everything was all said and done, it felt like today was not the roaring success I had hoped it would be. In a place called “Pleasant”on, the sourcing was not so sweet with only $171 net profit of my $600 goal for the week. Remember products that have sold well for you in the past and see if they can still bring you a good profit.
