As an Amazon FBA seller you must pay to ship your inventory to the Amazon warehouse.
You may be wondering, how do you estimate shipping cost? It’s really simple and I will show you how to do it!
Discounted Rates
Luckily for you, Amazon has partnered with UPS and offers discounted rates. NIOOCE! After a quick google search I found that shipping costs can average between .50 - .60 per pound.
TIP: Things are constantly changing and it’s nearly impossible to keep up! Be sure to head over to the Google and do your own research for the current averages.
Weight & Dimension
The products on Amazon each have a unique size and weight. That information can be found in the product description. This is the information Amazon uses to estimate how much shipping might be per pound. All you have to do is input an average cost per pound.
OK OK OK, I know it sounds too mathy but I promise it’s super easy.
Let’s do this!
In order to do this exercise you must already have an Amazon Seller account and app. Let’s begin.
Start by tapping the Menu in the top left of the screen ( it looks like 3 lines stacked on top of each other ).
Next, select the Gear Icon on the right of that menu.
Choose Product Search
Now scroll down until you see Shipping to Amazon
In the Cost Per Weight box add your “per pound estimate”
Input that per pound estimate we talked about earlier ( average between .50 - .60 per pound)
You did it!
Now when you are searching for products a “Shipping to Amazon” cost will appear in your results like in the example below.
This helps take some of the guess work out of estimating shipping cost. It’s especially handy when scanning those heavier items.
That’s it!
Once you have added a cost per weight to your Amazon Seller app you will start seeing a more accurate profit margin. This will help you when sourcing and trying to determine if a product is a good investment.
