How to set up Vacation Mode

You don’t want to be two Mai Tais and a Bahama Mama deep, relaxing on a beach somewhere on your well deserved vacation, just to have a pesky notification tell you that you just sold something and you need to ship it ASAP.

Talk about buzzkill.

While day-dreaming about my own vacation, I thought I would teach you all how to set your own Seller’s Account to Vacation mode for when you finally get to kick back and relax.

What Is Vacation Mode

Simply put, Vacation Mode pauses the sales of your open FBM listings on Amazon. Why do this you may ask? Amazon only gives you a couple of days to fulfill a placed order. Otherwise you will incur negative demerits on your account.

If you have a FBA (Fulfilled By Amazon) account, then you don’t necessarily have to do this but I still recommend it for peace of mind.

If you have a FBM (Fulfill By Merchant) account then you definitely need to set your account to vacation mode.

How To Set Vacation Mode

  1. Go to the drop-down menu in the top left of the Seller’s homepage.

  2. Click on the Settings Menu on the upper left (gear-looking widget).

  3. Scroll down to “Vacation Settings.”

  4. Uncheck the corresponding boxes for the listing accounts that you want to place on hold.

Tip: It can take up to a couple of days to activate so make sure that you do it a day or two before you actually leave on your vacation.

Don’t set Vacation Mode the moment you are running out the door.

Conclusion

So set yourself a reminder if you need to, but always set your listings on Vacation Mode whenever you are leaving and will not be able to fulfill orders.

Whether you have a FBA or a FBM account, it's always a quick and easy way to avoid the “Uh Oh! I can’t place these orders right now!” feeling.
